Boiler Installation FAQs
Everything you need to know about getting a new boiler installed.
How long does a boiler installation take?
A straightforward like-for-like combi boiler replacement typically takes one full day (6–8 hours). More complex installations — such as converting from a regular to a combi boiler, moving the boiler to a new location, or installing a system boiler with a new cylinder — may take two days. We'll give you an accurate time estimate during your free survey.
How disruptive is a boiler installation?
Most boiler installations are minimally disruptive. Your heating and hot water will be off for the duration of the installation day, so we recommend booking during milder weather if possible. Our engineers work tidily and will protect your flooring. In most cases, your home will be fully operational again the same evening.
What's included in the installation price?
Our installation price includes the boiler unit, all standard fittings and connections, flue system, commissioning, registration with Gas Safe, and a full handover showing you how to use your new system. We also include a Magna Cleanse system flush to protect your new boiler. Any additional work such as new pipework, upgraded controls, or power flushing will be quoted separately.
Which boiler should I choose for my home?
The right boiler depends on your home's size, the number of bathrooms, your current plumbing setup, and your hot water demand. We carry out a free heat loss survey and system assessment before recommending any boiler. We'll never recommend a larger or more expensive boiler than your home actually needs.
Can you move my boiler to a different location?
Yes, we can relocate a boiler to a new position, such as from a kitchen to a utility room or airing cupboard. This involves extending the gas pipe, flue, and water connections, which adds cost and time to the installation. Moving a boiler is sometimes a good opportunity to free up space in a kitchen. We'll advise on the most practical and cost-effective location during your survey.
Will you remove my old boiler?
Yes, removal and responsible disposal of your old boiler is included as standard. We are registered waste carriers and dispose of old appliances correctly in accordance with environmental regulations. You don't need to arrange any separate disposal.
What certifications will I receive after installation?
After installation you'll receive a Gas Safe certificate (Building Regulations Compliance Certificate) which must be issued for all gas boiler installations. We also handle the Building Regulations notification on your behalf. You'll receive a commissioning record, manufacturer's warranty documentation, and a full system handover.
Do I need to do anything to prepare for the installation?
We'll ask you to clear a reasonable working area around the boiler location and, if relevant, around the hot water cylinder. It's also helpful to identify the location of your main stopcock and gas meter beforehand. We'll send a reminder with any specific preparation instructions in advance of the booking.
Can you install a boiler in a cupboard or loft?
Yes, many boilers are installed in kitchen cupboards, utility rooms, or purpose-built boiler cupboards. Loft installations are possible but are generally less popular due to access difficulties and freezing risk. Any installation location must comply with manufacturer specifications and Gas Safe regulations regarding ventilation and clearances.
